Warriors reach the community of Waskaganish

On behalf of the Journey of Nishiyuu Working Group (Whapmagoostui), we wish to thank the community of Waskaganish for their warm welcome of the Nishiyuu Walkers. Your show of love and support is truly amazing, the reception the feast and the entertainment will be memorable. Many thanks to Waskaganish support team with local coordinator Tim Whiskeychan, the road runners, the cooks and helpers, for your wonderful work. You did an amazing job!

Speeches from Chief Gordon Blackned, local youth leadership, guests Deputy Grand Chief Ashley, CNYC Youth Chief Joshua Iserhoff and the Elders were highly inspiring! You words lifted the spirits of the Walkers. We know that they’re inspired and determined to complete the Journey!

We would also like to thank Mrs. Elizabeth Diamond (spouse of late Dr. Billy Diamond) and her family for their hospitality and generosity. They welcomed the Original Seven to their beautiful home, where they’re well taken care of.

To all the people of Waskaganish, thank you so much for your show of support, may God bless each and everyone of you!

The Walkers will be leaving Waskaganish tomorrow morning heading out to Matagami.
